STATEMENT CURATORIAL

”Regăsindu-ne într-un peisaj social tot mai divizat, simțim o nevoie aproape obsesivă de conexiune. Prima ediție a festivalului Silver Screen caută aceste legături fragile și eluzive printr-o atenție acordată dialogului, fie el între generații, culturi, continente sau viziuni. Important este doar să nu ne grăbim în a oferi o replică.”

Program:

După ore / After Class (2025) r. Marius Papară, 18', UNATC (România) Two teenagers who’ve just met, break into their school after classes only to find out chilling secrets embedded within its walls – including one boy’s connection to the death of a teacher.

Reflection (2025) r. Aaia Fouad Madany, 3' (Egipt) Mirrors represent the way the narcissist sees himself, always through a false, idealized image. But he doesn't see the world, nor does he see others. His reflections applaud him... but they are soulless.

Synonyms Antonyms (2026) r. Daniela Panico, 13' (România) Two sisters, separated by different stages of life, Nati and Vica, reunite for a day. Old tensions resurface when Nati learns that Vica has run away from home after a fight with their parents.

The Station (2025) r. Ahmed Sameh, 4' (Egypt) A cruel choice shattered a small family: to be a mother or a wife.

Salopette (2025) r. Feryel Ben Boubaker, 14' (Tunisia) Salima, a 25-year-old rock singer, confronts her fractured family and buried secrets, forcing her to question her identity and rebuild herself.

Cum am învățat să nu mă omor / How I Learned Not To Kill Myself (2025) r. Norbert Boda, 20', UNATC (România) Ophelia, a young woman, works as a waitress and lives quietly, with headphones on and constant thoughts of suicide. One night, she meets a strange guy at the bar, and a peculiar connection forms between them, as he offers to help her carry out her plan. That same night, however, her father dies.
